Jennifer Farrar, Owner
In addition to being mom to sons Anthony and James, Jennifer is dog mom to Ali and Jada. Ali is a 4 year old Golden Retriever who Jennifer and the boys brought home at eight weeks old. Ali believes everyone she meets is her best friend, loves to play ball and is always up for a swim. Jada is a spunky 1.5 year old mixed breed who Jennifer and the boys adopted at age 6 months from Because You Care. The dogs take turns accompanying Jennifer to work, love car rides and enjoy hikes on the trails at many local parks.
Jennifer was previously dog mom to Jack, a beautiful Golden Retriever who tragically passed away at age seven months and is buried at Hearthside Pet Cemetery. Read Jack’s Story to learn what inspired the Farrar’s to purchase Hearthside.
James Farrar, Owner
Along with his love of animals, James brings a broad skillset to Hearthside, being a bit of a jack-of-all-trades, with a special emphasis on landscaping. James has been taking care of two properties already for several years and is excited to put his efforts into making Hearthside a well-maintained and beautiful place. He will be taking the lead on grounds maintenance at Hearthside.
Anthony Farrar, Projects & Grounds Care
Our family calls Anthony the dog-whisperer. His patience, understanding of our canine companions and willingness to play ball and frisbee make him a friend to all the dogs in the extended family! He is currently in his freshman year at Penn State, Behrend. His studies keep him busy, but he will be helping with special projects and grounds care at Hearthside.
Debbie Burick, Transportation and Grief Support
Debbie Burick is mom to Jennifer and grandmother to Anthony and James. She’s a life-long animal lover. Debbie got her first Collie at age 10 and travelled across the region to participate in dog shows with her beloved Star. Star was buried at Hearthside in 1975. In the ensuing years, Debbie’s household included many Collies, a Beagle and a Labrador Retriever. She’s currently dog mom to two Australian Shepherds, Andy and Vixen, whom she happily devotes countless hours to for playtime, walks and training.
Debbie always knew she wanted to help take care of people and animals. After raising her three children, she entered the emergency medical field and worked as an EMT for 15 years. Her compassion for all people and all animals comes through in her interactions. She will be assisting with home and veterinary pick ups and is an excellent resource for grief support over pet loss, having experienced it many times over, from the loss of puppies at birth, to a tragic accident causing a pet’s death, to making difficult end of life decisions for pets.
